Pause in September

join us for A contemplative walk

Pause is a space to step out of the usual pace and reconnect with your life as it is. Each monthly gathering offers a different way to slow down and notice what’s here: through reflection, creative practice, quiet, movement, time in nature, or even a bit of play and laughter. Some sessions may feel still and spacious, others more active or expressive, but all are designed to help you reconnect, engage your life more fully, and make room for whatever you’re carrying.

Gatherings may take place at the Bread of Life office or in other community settings.

a contemplative walk: finding the holy in nature

SATURDAY, september 19, 9:00aM-11:00am

You are invited to a contemplative walk in nature. This gathering offers a intentional space to quiet the mind, notice the sacred in the earth around us, and connect with a like-minded community.

We'll meet in the parking lot of Cavitt Junior High School, 7200 Fuller Drive, Granite Bay, and hike about four miles on a trail with beautiful views of Folsom Lake. It is a route that goes out and back the same way (approximately 2 miles out and 2 miles back), so you do not have to go the full distance, and you are welcome to go further if you want! The trail is groomed though unpaved with intermittent shade.

This experience will include a prayer or poem to begin, a designated time of quiet while you walk with others, an invitation to reflect with all your senses, and then a regathering to notice and share and conversation and fellowship for the rest of the journey.

When: 9AM-11AM, Saturday, September 19, 2026

Where:  Folsom Lake, Meet at Cavitt Junior High Parking Lot

Led by: Terri Metzker

This is a free gathering though donations graciously accepted to support Bread of Life.

For Beauty

As stillness in stone to silence is wed,
May solitude foster your truth in word

As a river flows in ideal sequence,
May your soul reveal where time is presence.

As the moon absolves the dark of distance,
May your style of thought bridge the difference.

As the breath of light awakens colour,
May the dawn anoint your eyes with wonder.

As spring rain softens the earth with surprise,
May your winter places be kissed by light.

As the ocean dreams to the joy of dance,
May the grace of change bring you elegance.

As clay anchors a tree in light and wind,
May your outer life grow from peace within.

As twilight pervades the belief of night,
May beauty sleep lightly within your heart.
