Whether your purpose for writing is artistic expression, communication with friends and family, the healing of the inner life, or a creative spiritual practice - the foundation is the same: the claiming of yourself as an artist/writer and the strengthening of your writing voice through practice, study, and helpful response from other writers.

In this 8-week experience, participants will get to know one another, write and share together in a highly supportive environment. This is an Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) writing group based in the understanding that Everyone is a Writer. Each session allows for time to get acquainted and to share within this community. Prompts will be sent to be used for writing in between sessions.

Discover your inner storyteller! Join us for this series on Zoom.

I fell in love with language and words as an actor in my early years which included a national tour playing Macbeth. I spent a number of years working in residential treatment for youth, alcohol and drug crisis intervention, and finished my career with Sacramento County in Alcohol & Drug Programs, Senior & Adult Services and a final ten years in Child Protective Services.

I write in all sorts of genres – memoir (particularly my experience with cancer), short stories, sci-fi/fantasy and am currently working on a novel and collection of short stories. I’ve been in AWA groups for more than five years and was trained to facilitate AWA writing groups. I really believe in this model. It helps build regular practice writing, expands the creative spirit and creates a wonderful supportive community among participants.

This will be fun – come write with me!
