Who We Are
The Bread of Life Center for Spiritual Formation has grown rapidly since its inception in 1997*. We incorporated as a separate non-profit in March, 2006 when we consolidated our Davis-based programs and our Spirit in the Arts Center into one site in a challenged North Sacramento neighborhood.
Bread of Life offerings and services include:
- Spirit in the Arts, a free open studio space, with opportunities to explore the connection between spirituality and creativity
- Spirit Print, a full service printing operation where local youth are mentored into job skills
- Individual and group spiritual direction
- Seeding & mentoring with organizations seeking to engage their mission in a way that honors the Spirit
- Depth programs including a 3 year formation program for spiritual directors and offerings in Contemplative Dialogue and the Quadratos pattern of spiritual development pioneered by Alexander Shaia.
- A variety of retreats, workshops, and special events
Individuals coming to Bread of Life do not need to profess a particular set of beliefs or subscribe to any faith tradition.
All are welcome.
* We were founded originally out of Davis Community Church, a PC(USA) congregation. North Sacramento United Methodist Church has graciously made space available for the integrated program while we continue to look for our long-term home. With heartfelt gratitude to both DCC and NSUMC for their support of this vision and work.
