Spirit Print at Work:
The Spirit Print team successfully completed their first silk screen printing job, and we are very pleased with the results. Undaunted by technical difficulties, the team printed 70 shirts for the St. Johns Shelter. They immediately started working on a more complicated four color print job for a local CPA firm, Propp Christensen Caniglia. The CPA staff and family were able to attend a River Cats game decked out in their matching printed shirts.
This was the first chance for our new printing team to work together on a project. We have two young trainees who are employed by the Sacramento Employment & Training Agency (SETA). Miley and Roman are learning job skills while earning a paycheck during the summer. Not only are they learning the importance of coming to work on time, listening carefully to directions and other business skills, they are learning how to screen print, pad print and do heat transfers. The goal of our partnership with SETA is to help these young people go out and successfully obtain and hold jobs in the community.
The supervisor of our print team is Jeff Worrell. Jeff has been a volunteer in our Spirit in the Arts program for some time, and he was a natural choice to be the printing supervisor. He has much experience as a foreman and supervisor, as well as the patience to help these young people learn how to succeed in the work environment. Jean Holsten, one of Bread of Life's Executive Directors, is currently organizing the whole administrative portion of the business, when she isn't with the team making screens and printing shirts. Spirit Print is off and running, so keep us in mind when your business or community group needs to have printing done for a reasonable price!
